Lifeguard Certification Course
Once a year, the YMCA provides a Red Cross lifeguard training course. This certificate provides excellent employment opportunities at indoor and outdoor swimming pools. All classes are mandatory. Must be at least 15 years old by the final day of class and a strong swimmer. The course is 24 hours and includes first aid, AED and CPR certificates, valid for two years. Pre-requisite: swim 200 yards; 100 yards crawl stroke and 100 yards breaststroke. Timed brick retrieval and 2 minutes of treading water. $50 non-refundable deposit. If you pass the pre-requisite, you will then continue with the classes.
